Mor Çatı Women’s Shelter entered the New Year stronger!

Women who wanted to become volunteers of Mor Çatı gathered at Cezayir Restaurant on Saturday, 29th of December. 22 women participated the meeting and the shared their experiences. We explained how the network of solidarity has been built in the realm of Mor Çatı Solidarity Center and what has been done so far.

Women who wanted to become volunteers of Mor Çatı gathered at Cezayir Restaurant on Saturday, 29th of December. 22 women participated the meeting and the shared their experiences. We explained how the network of solidarity has been built in the realm of Mor Çatı Solidarity Center and what has been done so far.

While entering the year 2013, women who supported Mor Çatı had a chance know each other better. During this reinforcing meeting, the experiences concerning awareness on violence against women and the struggle against violence were shared. The first bounding for creation of network of solidarity took place while answering the questions like what Mor Çatı volunteers are able to do and what women’s solidarity is associated with. Women who were willing to be Mor Çatı volunteers also drew a road map to their activities at Mor Çatı in 2013. Some women decided to follow Mor Muhabbet (Mor Chats) even before the three-day-workshop in February 2013, some said they were willing to visit Mor Çatı Solidarity Centre and get involved in the volunteering activities.

Tea, coffee, cookies and pastry were serviced during the meeting which lasted almost four hours. At the end the women wished for 2013 to be a good year with no violence and a year that we would grow and get stronger together.
